ezomon

Wrapped up in a red scarf and blue cape, Ezomon is a very special flying squirrel that, in Japan, is only found in Hokkaido. Among the children, Ezomon is the winter sports hero that encourages them to dream big. Being an attention seeker, Ezomon pumps up the Games by flying around, wearing the cape with pride!

The 8th Sapporo Asian Winter Games Organising Committee (SAWGOC) is pleased to announce that the mascot’s name of the 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games has been decided!
SAWGOC invited the public to give it a name and received 6,661 applications. As a result of impartial judgement by the SAWGOC Selection Committee, “Ezomon” was chosen in the hope that the mascot will attract widespread popularity regardless of age.
Among 637 applicants who named it Ezomon, Misuzu Kato who is a 10-year-old fourth grader at the Sapporo City Nishioka Minami Elementary School was chosen as a winner by drawing lots.


Term of Use

  1. The 8th Sapporo Asian Winter Games Organising Committee (SAWGOC) owns the copyright to the official mascot of the Games as approved by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
  2. The mascot may not be used without the prior consent of SAWGOC. Anybody wishing to use it should contact SAWGOC in advance.
  3. Commercial use in particular is allowed only by parties involved in SAWGOC’s marketing work.
  4. The mascot may be used in media programmes or in newspaper, magazine or Internet articles provided that no alteration is made.
