Competition Highlights

Figure skating is the only of the three skating disciplines in which the skaters finish according to scores given by judges; it’s divided into four disciplines: men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating and ice dancing. Competitions are divided into a short program and free skating (or short dance and free dance for ice dancing), where athletes perform to music within a set time and are scored by judges for placement based on points received. Highlights of competitions include the athletes’ dynamic moves, such as their jumps, spins and steps, but music, choreography and facial expressions are also not to be missed.
