The Sapporo Asian Winter Games Fun Run took place at Sapporo Dome on Sunday, July 3 in conjunction with the KITA GAS 6-Hour Relay Marathon. The Fun Run, with 442 runners ranging from toddlers to senior citizens, was held as a family event to start off the annual 6-Hour Relay Marathon. Wishing to make 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games a great success, all the runners in a Fun Run matching T-shirt set out on a 2 kilometer course.
PR Ambassadors for the Games Mai Asada and Hiroyasu Shimizu attended the event to cheer on runners and give them a hi five at the finish line. Participants fully enjoyed a run and this special opportunity.
At the talk show, “The city of Obihiro will host Speed Skating competitions. Let’s enliven the Games all together in Sapporo, Obihiro and the whole Hokkaido.” said Shimizu. “Athletes are not the only participants in 2017 Sapporo Asian winter Games. We would like every one of you to enjoy and make great memories together.” added Asada.
The Fun Run continued with a prize draw for spectators to win PR Ambassadors’ autographs and Asian Games’ goodie bags. When given a prize, the winners received the opportunity to shake hands and have their photos taken with the Ambassadors. “I am so happy to meet them. I will follow updates on the Games.” commented a prize winner with a smile.
During the event, participants enjoyed taking photos with “Ezomon”, the Games’ mascot, together with mascots of Hokkaido Gas Co., Ltd. (KITAGAS): the Games’ official sponsor. At the PR booth, SAWGOC also called for volunteers for the Games.
