The Olympic Day Run 2015 took place at the Shibetsu City Athletic Stadium in eastern Hokkaido on 6 September. People participated in the event, especially young students and children, enjoyed jogging and walking together with Olympians and Paralympians.
Olympic Day Run is one of the events held around the world to celebrate the Olympic Day of 23 June. It consists mainly of 2-4 km Fun Runs which can be easily accessible to all people. In Japan, the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) has been hosting Olympic Day Runs across the country every year since 1987 in order to spread understanding about the joy of sports and the basic spirit of the Olympics through the fun runs along with Olympic athletes.
On a fine autumn morning in Shibetsu, among eight Olympians and Paralympians including the Olympic Movement Ambassador Tsugiharu Ogiwara (Nordic combined skiing) and Hanae Ito (Swimming), the 2017 Sapporo Asian Games’ mascot Ezomon also joined in the event and promoted the Games.
